Saw Tooth Inspector - "VTI (Video Tooth Inspector)"

Client's Request:
To develop a very precise mechanical base for a
saw-blade-tooth inspecting video camera. The camera had to be
able to view each tooth from every angle.
KLN's Contribution:
Mechanical design, prototyping and manufacturing of 20 units.
Outcome:
The mechanical base was designed to accommodate all saw blades
between 6" and 36" in diameter and to allow each tooth to be
viewed and analyzed from the top, the side and the front.
The video camera, mounted on a pivoting, dampened arm,
slides to set the zoom level and automatically maintains the focus setting,
regardless of the viewing angle. Additionally, through a cost
saving, patent-pending innovation, the camera looks through its
own pivot point when inspecting a tooth's profile.
The design and building of a prototype was completed in less
than six months. Three months later Forintek contracted KLN to
build, under high manufacturing demands and a tight delivery
deadline, the first 20 commercial units. A guaranteed
measurement accuracy of 0.1 degree and 1/10,000" had to be
achieved consistently. All the demands were met to
the full satisfaction of our client.
